MyBB < 1.8.9 Multiple CSRF/XSRF

low Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 9854

Synopsis

The remote web server is running a PHP application that is vulnerable to a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF/XSRF) attack vector.

Description

Versions of MyBB (MyBulletinBoard) prior to 1.8.9 are affected by a flaw as HTTP requests do not require multiple steps, explicit confirmation, or a unique token when performing certain sensitive actions. By tricking a user into following a specially crafted link, a context-dependent attacker can perform a CSRF/XSRF attack causing the victim to remove subscriptions.

Solution

Upgrade to MyBB version 1.8.9 or later.
