Synopsis

The remote Red Hat 7 host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities that will not be patched.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

 - sysstat: check_overflow() function can work incorrectly that lead to an overflow (CVE-2023-33204)

 - sysstat is a set of system performance tools for the Linux operating system. On 32 bit systems, in versions 9.1.16 and newer but prior to 12.7.1, allocate_structures contains a size_t overflow in sa_common.c. The allocate_structures function insufficiently checks bounds before arithmetic multiplication, allowing for an overflow in the size allocated for the buffer representing system activities. This issue may lead to Remote Code Execution (RCE). This issue has been patched in version 12.7.1. (CVE-2022-39377)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

The vendor has acknowledged the vulnerabilities but no solution has been provided. Refer to the vendor for remediation guidance.
