Synopsis

The remote Red Hat 7 host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities that will not be patched.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has one or more packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities that have been acknowledged by the vendor but will not be patched.

 - edk2: integer underflow in SmmEntryPoint function leads to potential SMM privilege escalation (CVE-2021-38578)

 - Insufficient input validation in MdeModulePkg in EDKII may allow an unauthenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege, denial of service and/or information disclosure via physical access.
 (CVE-2019-11098)

 - Uncontrolled resource consumption in EDK II may allow an unauthenticated user to potentially enable denial of service via network access. (CVE-2019-14559)

 - Rejected reason: DO NOT USE THIS CANDIDATE NUMBER. ConsultIDs: none. Reason: This candidate was in a CNA pool that was not assigned to any issues during 2019. Notes: none. (CVE-2019-14560)

 - Integer truncation in EDK II may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access. (CVE-2019-14563)

 - Null pointer dereference in Tianocore EDK2 may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access. (CVE-2019-14584)

 - An unlimited recursion in DxeCore in EDK II. (CVE-2021-28210)

 - A heap overflow in LzmaUefiDecompressGetInfo function in EDK II. (CVE-2021-28211)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied on the package manager's report that the package is installed.

Solution

The vendor has acknowledged the vulnerabilities but no solution has been provided. Refer to the vendor for remediation guidance.
