krb5 のこの更新により、2 つのセキュリティ問題が修正されます。CVE-2011-4862：Kerberos 対応の telnet デーモンで発生していたリモートコードの実行が修正されました。（これが影響するのは、krb5-appl RPM からの ktelnetd のみであり、 SUSE によって提供される通常の telnetd には影響しません。）
CVE-2011-1526/MITKRB5-SA-2011-005：krb5 ftpd の認証されていないファイルアクセスの問題を修正しました。
